Kawhi Leonard enjoyed some tennis in Toronto on Tuesday night. The Klaw turned up at the National Bank Open at Sobeys Stadium for the quarterfinal between Grand Slam champions Elena Rybakina and Naomi Osaka — hat low, shades on, hands doing most of the talking.

Toronto never really let Kawhi go. The 2019 title still lives in the walls of this city, and every sighting turns into a moment. A trucker cap in the stands becomes a trending topic before the second set is over.

For someone in the middle of such a critical investigation, Kawhi looks almost nonchalant about the whole process. Maybe he knows something the rest of us don’t. Either way, this thing either needs to be wrapped up in his favour or it simply needs to go away — because the silence around it is doing more damage than any verdict would.

That’s the Kawhi paradox: the quietest man in the building is always the loudest story in the room. And on Tuesday, he was courtside in Toronto, watching two champions swing.
